Abstract: | Three species (two new, one left unnamed) of the amphipod genus Bogidiella, Bogidiella sp., B. spathulata sp. n. and B. uniramosa sp. n. found in anchihaline and fresh groundwaters of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote (Canary Islands), are described. One of the new species belongs to the subgenus Xystriogidiella (previously known from the Australian Great Barrier Reef), the other to the subgenus Stygogidiella (previously recorded from the Lesser Antilles and Greece). The zoogeographic implications of these taxonomic findings are briefly discussed. Bogidiellids were previously not known to exist in the Canary Islands. |
