Abstract:

Bogidiella (Bogidiella) madeirae n. sp. (Amphipoda, Bogidiellidae) is described  from two localities in the intertidal zone of Madeira. The animals live under poikilohaline conditions where upwelling water causes lowered salinities at low tide, but which are covered by sea-water at high tide. The phenetically ecologically, and geographically closest relative appears to be В. (B.) helenae Mateus & de Lourdes Maciel, 1967, from the mouth of the river Douro (Portugal).
